Dealer Uplink announces the launch of its QR Barcode Quick Display Network for the automotive industry whereby giving instant consumer access to vehicle essentials while providing turn-key lead generation and tracking for automotive dealerships.

QR BarcodesQR Barcodes, used as a marketing tool, is an emerging trend in big-box retail and sales environments. Retailers such as Best Buy and Lowes introduced QR Barcodes late last year as a way for consumers to gather basic information. The automotive industry has been slow to implement QR Barcodes for consumers due to the lack of inventory integration, lead generation, and mobile display networks until now.

In late March, 2011, Dealer Uplink LLC launched the beta version of its Quick Display Network (QDN) and its turnkey Software as a Service (SaS) for Auto Dealerships to generate QR Barcodes. The technology was tested at select automotive dealerships in Central United States with great success and in May of this year launched nationwide.  Dealer Uplink provides the only QR Barcode software in the automotive industry using the Quick Display Network (QDN) to generate additional leads and newer customers. Using less effort and marketing dollars, they help capture the next generation of auto buyers. Dealer Uplink leads other turnkey software solutions looking to help auto dealers tap the Smartphone and mobile markets directly using QR Barcodes.

George J Lamelza III, President and CIO said “only a few companies are looking into the use of QR Barcodes for Auto Dealerships and their approach is providing a link to something the consumer already has access to which lacks innovation and solutions. Our Quick Display Network (QDN) provides key essentials for consumers giving dealerships a way to generate leads while providing an interactive experience with the vehicle.”

While many auto dealerships are starting to put QR Barcodes into their advertising and marketing, the basic technology doesn’t give way to engaging the consumer. This next generation consumer continually demands more buying decision tools involving quick mobility access. The Dealer Uplink team has used their experience to build an advanced solution for automotive dealers.

CEO Jay Martinez said “Our team has a few decades of experience in the automotive industry with respect to trends in emerging technologies. We are constantly innovating around the idea that QR Barcodes are more than a novelty item as a link to a website. Our vision is for QR Barcodes to become the new powerhouse; used as an effective information and lead generation tool which captures the next generation of buyers.”

QR Barcodes on Stickers of New Cars & Auto by the EPA & DOT?

Everyone is jumping on board with QR Barcodes for Auto and Car Stickers. How they use them will be interesting, because as of today, the general consumer has only been given access to a QR Barcode that links to another website with basic information. Even the government is jumping on board in an effort to stay current with technology.

The EPA & National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will update their current label or Window Sticker.  Most people recognize the current label (or “window sticker”) by the gas tank graphic and city and highway Miles Per Gallon (MPG) information.

This label or window sticker will provided consumers with simple, straightforward energy and environmental comparisons across all vehicles types, including electric vehicles (EV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and conventional gasoline/diesel vehicles. The agencies are incorporating new information, such as ratings on fuel economy, greenhouse gas emissions, and other air pollutants, onto the label as required by the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA) of 2007. A Sample of the label is found at their website.

As gleamed from their website expected release date or implementation is not firm but in general you may start seeing it in 2012.

As for QR Barcodes that truly provide information consumers really want, i.e. pricing, reliability, features, and many more, look to the Quick Display Network (QDN) by Dealer Uplink. They are not just generating a QR bar code, but can, in a matter of seconds take an auto dealership’s entire inventory and give a consumer a glimpse into making a real buying decisions, while tracking and generating leads from those scans.  Technology sure has changed and its benefiting all of us.

Many of you that may have stumbled upon this  website may not know what QR barcodes are let alone ones specifically for the Auto & Car Industry as it relates to Auto Dealerships looking to connect with the next generation of auto buyers.

Let’s review….

A QR code (short for Quick Response) is a  two-dimensional code, readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera phones. It was invented in 1994, and has been very popular overseas in Japan but has just made its trek over to the USA over the past few years.  QR is the abbreviation for Quick Response, as the creator intended the code to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed. (

Enter the iphone 4 by apple, the android by the team, and now QR starts to make sense to consumers. Many retail stores are are deploying QR Barcodes on price tags, while manufacturers are starting to put them directly on products. All with a marketing focus rather than a pricing functionality focus.

Historically Auto Dealers have been very old media driven with the exception of new media solutions such as online photos and info. They have fallen behind with their introduction of social media and other new media marketing methods. QR Barcodes hold the next way for forward thinking auto dealers to connect with the consumer and leverage it as a sales, lead generation, and simple marketing tool with quick access right on the dealership lot.

There are, however only a few forward thinking dealership that have even used a QR Barcode, and it was only as a link to their website. There is one company nationwide that has deployed software that allow  dealerships to leverage this technology is a real way. Dealer Uplink, based in Springfield Missouri has developed a turnkey solution for dealers to provide a unique QR Barcode for each car, that connects to specific information for that car.

This is by far the best solution available for dealerships to seamlessly connect with the smart phone users and next generation auto buyers while making their sales team more productive. Check out for details.
